REAP Down to Earth Week (April 6 - 11) is a celebration of sustainable living. Join us for events around Calgary that showcase the best in local food, responsible business and healthy homes.

Our free Business Lecture Series, which is co-hosted by Calgary Public Library and presented by First Calgary Savings, takes place April 6-9 each day at noon.

On April 7 Dr. David Korten will speak on his most recent book "Agenda for a New Economy: From Phantom Wealth to Real Wealth". Tickets are $10 and Calgary Dollars are accepted. Presented in partnership with The Arusha Centre, Thrive, University of Calgary, Parkland Institute and Public Interest Alberta.

Join us April 10 for a free event to launch Calgary's first "Healthy Families, Healthy Planet" report, presented through an interactive panel discussion. Learn about the top 10 ways to ensure the wellness of your children and the environment and get answers to all of your questions about detoxifying your home. Exhibits will provide information, products and services to make going green easy. Presented in partnership with Babes In Arms.

On April 11, enjoy the best organic and sustainable foods Alberta has to offer and meet the farmers and chefs behind it at Food For Thought. Sit back for a screening of "Food Fight" and listen to live music by Chris Velan in the Marquee Room afterward. Tickets are $15. Presented in partnership with Earth Day Canada, Calgary Food Policy Council and Community Natural Foods.

Local feature menus will be available throughout the week at: Community Natural Foods Market Cafe, Dairy Lane, Open Range, River Cafe, The Coup, The District, Velvet and Wild Rose Brewery & Taproom. Alberta Ecotrust announced the results of its 2010 Young Environmental Stewards (YES) program. With funding support from TransAlta and the help of a volunteer grant review committee of Young Environmental Professionals, the spring round of YES grants is helping nearly a dozen young Albertans convert their environmental passion into action through projects ranging from community gardening to people powered events! The 2010 program garnered 29 applications, of which 11 were funded with a total of $45,334.00.
